Online Music Lessons

Monday, March 23, 2020 Music Notes Academy re-opened with online music lessons. Due to Covid-19 and NJ’s Executive Orders, we had to quickly adapt.

We have been teaching online music lessons through Google’s Educational G-Suite Classroom. We selected this platform because it works well with any email address on all computers, tablets and smartphones. Many students became familiar with Google Classroom and Google Hangouts at the start of Covid-19’s homeschool learning.

Online learning is only getting better. Students are learning with degreed music teachers. Not an app. Not software. A real live music teacher.

I was skeptical with online music lessons in March of ’20. I kept thinking back to when we beta-tested online learning in ’13. In ’21, the technology is significantly improved. Nearly all students and parents have a smart device. Some have several. Even though we’d prefer to be in a classroom at our Academy, our online lessons have been going really well. After all is said and done, learning music still comes down to a commitment. A commitment from students and parents. Covid-19 definitely placed a spotlight on a student’s willingness to learn more independently with online learning.
