Hello Parents & Adult Students,
3/16/20 at 1pm — Due to the recent press release by the Governor, Music Notes Academy – at East Brunswick & Whitehouse Station – will be closed today 3/16/20 through Sunday, 3/22/20.
Should anything change and the risk to the community is removed, we will re-open earlier than 3/22/20.
In the meantime, we are setting up Music Notes Academy online within SmartMusic. You’ll be receiving an invite email – either coming from firstname.lastname@example.org, Music Notes Academy or SmartMusic. This email may end up in your junk or spam folder. Please check there if you don’t see something by tomorrow.
For now, this week will be added to the end of the school year. There is no need to log your absence online at musicnotesacademy.com.
For students enrolled for Winter Semester ’20 only, we hope you are planning to continue with Music Notes in Spring ’20, which is April. Please assume normal procedures and sign-up online, so we can reserve your class time with your teacher.
We do believe the music should play on. We value the one-to-one teaching with our students, which really is the only way to learn music comprehensively. Video learning has it’s limitations and is by no means a long-term solution for learning music. Especially for younger students and students that need instruments tuned, etc…
With this being said, today will mark the beginning of our Learn Today, Play Tomorrow® Practice Challenge. Please share and print the poster below for inspiration. My students that were home from school on Thursday and Friday of last week, made some great strides in simply having additional time at home to practice and play their music. Students of all ages and abilities can benefit from a practice challenge. Even playing music that is learned and enjoyable, is a great way to maintain skills, play at different tempos (speeds) and play for family at home.
Please remember, we are all in this together. Utilize this additional time musically. Having a musical instrument to practice and work with, offers great skills, patience and diligence for students of all ages.
-Spring Recitals are currently scheduled as is. This could be a time to show students, that a mid-June event is still going forward as scheduled. You can register online at musicnotesacademy.com.
-MAMTG Student Music Festival ’20 – There will be an update by Thursday. I’m waiting on Hilton Hotel.
