Music Notes Academy was established in 2000
Brandon Kurzawa began teaching drum lessons in the student's homes in Bridgewater,
Branchburg and Hillsborough, New Jersey. Then we were called Kurzawa School of Music, not
as catchy as Music Notes Academy. Brandon changed the name in 2005.
Trial lessons and interviews are available with the Academy Director
Not sure about music lessons with us? You can have a trial lesson, meet with Brandon
Kurzawa (the director) or speak with him over the phone for more information. Trial
lessons/interviews are $50, the phone call is free.
Student - Teacher matching
You can choose your teacher from our teachers page or we will match you with a qualified
teacher. Some of our teachers have a waiting list for new students though. However, all of our
teachers have experience and education in teaching students of various ages.
Qualified and dedicated music instructors
All our instructors studied music collegiately and have, at minimum, an undergraduate
degree in unique areas of study. Some of us have master's degrees as well and we all work
professionally in music, whether it's performing, teaching, recording, producing or writing. We
actually all enjoy teaching music and consider teaching music a priority within our music
careers.

Comprehensive music lessons in the student's home - the instructor travels to you
Students and parents avoid driving to locations for music lessons, and students receive all the benefits of having quality music instruction. Why
travel to a community music school or music store with small stuffy rooms and poor sound isolation? You can study at home, in your comfortable
environment, with your own instrument and still perform on stage in an auditorium for student recitals! Not to mention you can also perform with one
of our bands, such as rock band, jazz band or percussion ensemble. These group classes meet in Madison, NJ weekly.
No contracts, only monthly commitments
Certain community schools and music instruction providers require a semester or 26 lesson commitment. We require that you give us a monthly
commitment. In order to maintain quality instructors, we need to have a small commitment from the students and parents.
Make-up lessons available for student absences and instructor absences
Certain community schools and music instruction providers do not offer make-up lessons anymore. We still do. Students receive 3 make-up lessons
per academic school year if they are registered with Program 3: Whole Notes.
Annual Winter Concerts
In December of 2009, we began offering annual Winter Concerts for our students. Our Winter Concerts will take place in Madison, New Jersey.
Students can perform Holiday music and their favorite classical, jazz or rock music.
Annual Spring Student Recitals
Our student recitals take place in an auditorium, on stage with a grand piano, stage lighting and PA system. Students receive performance awards
and trophies for their hard work and talents and have a chance to see our bands and ensembles perform as well. Some schools have recitals in
small stuffy rooms with florescent lighting or in church basements, we like to have ours on a big stage.
Piano students are eligible for New Jersey Music Educators Association Piano Evaluations
MEA offers piano students a great opportunity to receive performance opportunities as well as critique from highly regarded adjudicators. We always
encourage our piano students to participate in this unique opportunity as Music Notes Academy is a member school.
We are a member of Music Educators Association (MEA), The National Association For Music Education (MENC), The Percussive Arts Society (PAS)
These organizations offer music educators professional development in music education, instruction and pedagogy, all of which we take very
seriously at Music Notes Academy.
MNA sells instructional method books, sheet music and instruments
Students and parents do not have to travel to music stores to purchase instructor requested materials, everything comes to you - the teacher and
your instructional materials! We also sell select musical instruments and accessories too.
We offer piano tuning and servicing and guitar repairs and servicing
We have certified technicians on staff that repair pianos and guitars. For our guitar students, and if available, we offer our students a loaner guitar
while the student's guitar is being serviced. It's a free loaner instrument too.
Rock Bands, Jazz Bands & Percussion Ensembles are offered in Madison, NJ at our adjunct facility
In addition to in-home music lessons, we also offer group classes, ensembles and bands currently on Saturdays throughout the school year. A great
opportunity for students, we strongly believe that students should also perform with other students in addition to private instruction.
Our instructors work with student's school band music, prepare for auditions, performances, evaluations and school performance tests.
Our students have successfully auditioned for jazz bands, school musicals, college auditions, music competitions, marching bands and some
students have started their own bands!
