At our East Brunswick Academy. Starts September.

Our Rock Band program began in 2008. Our bands – for beginner-level through advanced-level students – are instructed and directed with learning objectives, curricular structure and offer students real-world performance opportunities during the school year.

Our bands perform live, on stage, in our annual Winter Concerts and Spring Student Recitals, and in additional performances Music Notes Academy participates in such as Battle of the Bands competitions, music festivals and local community events and performances. Our advanced-level bands also record a demo in a professional recording studio, which has always been included in tuition.

Students are accepted into our bands based upon the student’s age, current level of musical ability and by auditioning with our Director. Designed to be enjoyable for students, practicing songs in between rehearsals/classes is required for all students. Our Rock Band program is a school year commitment for students (and parents).

Rock Guitar Classes vs Rock Band Classes

Rock Band Classes or Rock Bands

Beginner Band will improve each student’s performance skills and techniques within a group setting. Instruction will focus on learning classic and contemporary rock songs, performance techniques, stage presence, collaborative musicianship skills and supportive performance skills under the guidance of a teacher. Beginner Band performs in our annual Winter Concerts and Spring Student Recitals.
A continuation of Beginner Band, Intermediate includes reading rock charts, studying the art of improvisation, learning advanced performance techniques and learning how a rock band functions and operates in today’s music industry. Repertoire will include songs from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today. Intermediate Band performs in our annual Winter Concerts and Spring Student Recitals.
A continuation of Bands 1 & 2, Rock Band 3 includes reading rock charts, studying the art of improvisation, learning advanced performance techniques and learning how a rock band functions and operates in today’s music industry. Songs will include covers from the 70’s through today. Rock Band 3 Advanced 1 performs in our annual Winter Concerts and Spring Student Recitals.
A continuation of Rock Band 3, this band includes improvisation, advanced performance and stage techniques and learning about the music business. Rock Band 4 performs in all of our Concerts and Recitals and records a demo in a professional recording studio with a record producer and engineer. How cool is this!
Original Rock Band is a combination of performing rock songs, learning how to write original rock songs as a band and learning how to record using Pro Tools software. Students should have an interest in learning cover songs, writing songs and learning how to record their original music using Pro Tools with an instructor. This Band is for advanced-level students only.
An advanced-level band, students will learn and perform rock songs that are popular now, or during the last 10 years or so. Modern Rock Band performs live in our Concerts and Recitals.
Do you have what it takes to be an all-star musician? This was one of our new bands for our 2010-2011 school year and was actually developed specifically for one of our guitar students. This band is for advanced-level students who want to focus on soloing, perform challenging repertoire by virtuoso musicians and want to showcase their chops. Centered around rock music, our curriculum includes blues, progressive rock and Jazz. Music Notes Academy teachers usually perform with students in this Rock Band.
A new band for our 2010-2011 school year, this band is for students who want to perform music by great singer-songwriters. Songs will be chosen and centered around the band members and singers. A great band for students who want to sing songs by contemporary and popular male and female artists. Like with all of our Rock Bands, our singers receive vocal coaching from our voice teachers and sometimes we have guest speakers and visiting artists attend rock band rehearsals.
Are you currently in a Rock Band? We can help your current rock band learn music, improve and get rockin’. We can visit your rehearsal studio or garage and help existing bands succeed. Perhaps your Rock Band will perform with our Rock Bands?
