Music Notes Academy instructor. Music Notes Academy developed its curriculum and
instructional methods on standards of excellence and values the feedback from students
and parents.
Sunday Music Lessons
From the request of prospective students/parents and many current students/parents,
Music Notes Academy will now offer music instruction on Sundays during the 2008 - 2009
school year. Limited to instructor availability, if you are interested in Sunday lessons please
specify in your New Student Registration.

music instruction by the session or academic year.
Payments are aligned with the Music Notes Academy
Academic School Year Calendar only. Instructional
method books, repertoire, sheet music, instruments
and accessories will be billed accordingly within the
month purchased when requested by the instructor
or student/parent. Speak with Brandon Kurzawa for
complete details and additional information.

A combination of performing rock songs, learning how to write original songs (as a band)
and learning how to record (as a band) using Pro Tools software. Students should have an
interest in learning Rock cover songs, writing original songs and learning how to record
their original music using Pro Tools software with the instructor.

Prerequisites: Experience studying/performing music (preferably 3-5 years), auditions may
be required for non-Music Notes Academy students. Students need to have a basic
understanding of music theory, chords, melody, rhythm and musicianship skills, as well as
reading skills to be eligible for participation in this band.

Students can register for music instruction with Music Notes Academy at anytime throughout the school
year. Prospective students and parents may complete the Contact Us page and a representative will
contact you to discuss your music education. Transfer students, students from other community
schools, music instructors and/or music education providers, are encouraged to register for a trial
lesson for a performance evaluation, assessment and proper instructor matching. Music lessons occur
weekly on the same day and time with an instructor in the student's home.

Mike Wilkens began his music education studying saxophone
privately with Chicago saxophonist Greg Fishman. He
continued at Northerhn Illinois University as a music
performance major in 1993. He studied both classical and
jazz saxophone, clarinet and piano. He transferred to
Berklee College of Music to study saxophone with Bill Pierce
and George Garzone. Mike graduated from Berklee in 1998
with a degree in jazz performance.
Mike Wilkens performed under the direction of Quincy Jones
in Q's 50 Years in Music celebration at the 1996 Montreaux
Jazz Festival. He has also performed with Patti Austin, Phil
Collins, Chaka Khan, Toots Thielemans, Gerald Albright,
David Sanborn, Paquito D'Rivera, Lou Marini, Bob Mintzer
and Tito Puente.
