A combination of performing rock songs, learning how to
write original songs (as a band) and learning how to record
(as a band) using Pro Tools. Students should have an
interest in learning cover songs, writing songs and learning
how to record their original music using Pro Tools software.
Prerequisites: Experience studying/performing music (preferably 3-5 years), auditions may be required
for non-Music Notes Academy students. Students need to have a basic understanding of music theory,
chords, melody, rhythm and musicianship skills, as well as reading skills to eligible for participation in
this band.

Rhythm Section Workshop - Jazz Band
Many middle school and high school students seek participation with their school Jazz Bands.
In many schools, competition is common and students are required to audition for their school
Jazz Band. Music Notes Academy offers Rhythm Section Workshops, focusing on Jazz Band
styles and genres, that can offer students an introduction into Jazz music and performance.
Music Technology, Music Production
Music Notes Academy now offers group classes and private instruction specializing in music
technology, music production and music business. Classes and private instruction, in these
specialties, will offer students content knowledge and real-world experience within areas of
music focusing on technology, production, audio engineering, music business and marketing.
The unique curriculum designed by MNA and its instructors will offer students a
comprehensive, sequential and progressive approach to learning current softwares and
aspects related to music performance.

Desktop & Laptop Music Production - Mac/Apple Computers
Push your Apple computer to its limit! Learn how to create great music with a Mac desktop or
laptop utilizing Apple's GarageBand or Logic Studio music software. You will learn how to
choose the best sounds for your music as well as how to use the samplers and loops.
Instruction will include - editing, mixing, composition, using effects and understanding MIDI
and audio applications. Upon completion, students will have completed a composition which is
mixed, mastered and finished for listening!

Home Studio Production
Many music students are aspiring songwriters and producers with ideas and songs ready for
the next step. This class will teach students the art of music production, recording, utilizing
recording software and applying musical skills in production formats. Learn about the roles
and responsibilities of a record producer and recording engineer in the recording industry.
Prerequisites:

Producing Music w/ Pro Tools - Beginner
Learn how to use the recording industry's most popular digital recording software from the
comfort of your home. An introductory class, students will learn set-up procedures, creating
sessions, recording audio, basic editing and mixing.
Prerequisites:

Producing Music w/ Pro Tools - Intermediate
Learn the art of mixing and mastering music using Pro Tools. This curriculum will encompass
panning, EQ, compression techniques, reverb, delay, chorus and the other plug-ins associated
with music production to offer your music a professional and quality sound.
Prerequisites:

Producing Music w/ Pro Tools - Advanced
Learn additionally about the professional applications in Pro Tools - advanced recording
techniques, complex editing, plug-in usage and mixing.

Ensembles, Bands & Classes
Students are accepted into ensembles and bands based on the
approval of the student's instructor. Students are encouraged to
register for ensembles and bands and a confirmation email will be
sent upon confirmation from the student's instructor.
Students may be invited to join a different ensemble that more appropriately matches the
student's current level of ability in accordance with their length of musical study. For non-Music
Notes Academy students an audition will be scheduled with the director.
Percussion Ensemble
Students will perform classical and hand drumming repertoire using a
variety of percussion instruments such as snare drums, cymbals,
marimba, xylophone, orchestral bells, bongos and djembes. Students will
learn about various percussion instruments, correct performance
techniques and group performance skills. A great addition to private
instruction, students will develop musical confidence performing amongst
peers and increase performance skills on percussion instruments.
Rehearsals are weekly and students will perform in concert at Music
Notes Academy Student Recitals. Percussion students may need to
schedule an audition with Brandon Kurzawa.
Rock Band I, Beginner
Drummer, Bassist, Guitarist, Keyboardist/Pianist, Vocalist
The Music Notes Academy beginner, intermediate and
advanced Rock Bands are designed to improve each
student's performance skills and techniques within a
group collaboration focusing on Rock & Roll music.
Instruction will focus on learning classic and contemporary
rock songs, while learning unique techniques and skills
associated with performing rock music in a band setting.
The Rock Bands will perform in the Music
Jazz Band I, Beginner
Drummer, Bassist, Guitarist, Pianist, Saxophonist, Vocalists
The Music Notes Academy Jazz Bands, Beginner, Intermediate &
Advanced, offer students a group performance experience, under the
guidance and direction of an instructor, which will explore Jazz
repertoire, performance techniques, improvisation and soloing.
Students will focus on reading skills, Jazz theory, playing supportively
and musically, and performing standard repertoire that aligns to their
current performance level. Ensembles will explore Be-Bop, Swing,
Latin, Rhythm & Blues and contemporary styles with Jazz standards at
the forefront of their studies. The ensembles will perform at Music
Notes Academy Student Recitals!
Rock Band II, Intermediate
Rock Band II is a continuation of Rock Band I, Beginner.
Students will expand on skills such as performing together as a
group, reading rock charts and learning the art of
improvisation. Students will learn to read more comprehensive
charts, study soloing, improvisational techniques, learn about
the business of being in a band and perform repertoire from
the 70's, 80's, 90's and today.
Prerequisite: Rock Band I, Beginner or prior ensemble performance.
Students may need to schedule an audition with the director.
Song Writing - Writing Hit Songs
Do you write your own original material and seek to sharpen your craft?
This course will teach you how to brainstorm and create "hit" song ideas. A
combined effort of technical principles and music creativity will help you
become a better songwriter. Learn how to create memorable "hooks",
choose the right "form" for your song, expand on harmonization and the
art of connecting your song ideas to form a great song.
Guitar Ensemble - Guitarists, Bassists
The Music Notes Academy Guitar Ensemble will showcase the development
of ensemble performance skills amongst guitarists. Students will work
together on melodic performance, improvisation, rhythm guitar and
accompaniment techniques within an ensemble collaboration. Performance
repertoire will include classical, popular, rock and jazz standards arranged
for each student's proficiency and current playing ability. The guitar
ensemble will perform at the Music Notes Academy Student Recitals.
